Custom Work
Everything I make is in my size, because I'm my own fit model. If you love one of my designs and want it made for you, I'd be glad to.
What I offer
Any design in the shop, or one I've made before, made to your measurements, in either:
- a fabric you choose from my collection of vintage textiles, or
- your own textile, such as a family tablecloth, linen, or kimono (I'll need to see it first to know whether it will work)
A few things to know
- I can resize any design, but I can't promise it in the same fabric. Most pieces are made from a single vintage textile, so each one is one of a kind. A few designs, like the ones made from vintage bed sheets, can occasionally be made more than once.
- I don't take on new designs or pieces that aren't already in my collection. Developing a new pattern takes weeks, so for now I focus on the designs I already make.
How it works
1. Email [email protected] with the design you love.
2. We talk through the fabric. Choose from my collection, or send photos of your own textile.
3. I take your measurements, in person in San Francisco or with my measurement guide and photos.
4. I send you a quote. A 50% deposit holds your spot.
5. Before I cut your fabric, I may make a test version of the design in your size to check the fit. There is no extra charge for this.
6. I make your piece. If you're local, we finish with a fitting.
Pricing and timing
Custom pieces are the price of the design plus 20%, whether I supply the fabric or you do. I'll confirm your price once I've seen the fabric. Most pieces take 4 to 6 weeks, and I take only a few custom orders at a time. If you need something sooner, talk to me first, and I'll tell you whether a rush is possible and what it would cost.
Policies
Custom pieces are made just for you, so they are final sale and the deposit is non-refundable. If the fit isn't right, I'll adjust it within 14 days of delivery.
